The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku/Okowa Camapaihn Organization spokesman, Daniel Bwala has hailed Peter Obi, while he slammed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the manner he sought the endorsement of Afenifere.
Newsonline reports that Bwala said, unlike Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate who got his endorsement from the Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, Afenifere without contradiction, Tinubu sparked controversy with the way he sought the same endorsement.
PDP spokesman said, “Peter Obi secured endorsement from Afenifere without controversy or contradiction, but you went like a thief in the night and your supposed endorsement sparked controversy. Isn’t it shameful and disgraceful?”
Recall that the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu, on Sunday visited the home of the former leader of Afenifere,Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Ondo State.
Tinubu disclosed to the Afenifere former leader that he was on a journey to redeem the country.
A statement released by the APC campaign organization quoted the General Secretary of Afenifere, Chief Seinde Arogbofa, charging Tinubu to be a leader that will unite Nigeria and work for the progress and development of the country.
Arogbofa was said to have said, “You are not just a Yoruba man but a Nigerian. When you become President take Nigeria into consideration in all you do but never forget home. Our demands are what you know already.
“Restructuring, security and fixing the economy. Our country is no longer safe. We want state police so that the country will be safe.”
However, on Monday, 31st October, the leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, along with the leadership of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, maintained that Peter Obi remained the endorsed candidate of the Yoruba nation.
Pa Ayo accused Tinubu of bribing some Afenifere members to create a fake endorsement in Ondo State.
Pa Ayo said, “Tinubu bribed some people with little money to put up a show that there’s a division in Afenifere.
“I won’t engage him and those he gave money to because we have already made our position clear that Peter Obi is our candidate.”
