Adeleke has dumped PDP and declared Accord Party as the new platform for 2026 Governorship Race.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially announced the Accord Party as his new political home ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The declaration was made on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, where national and state leaders of the party gathered to welcome him.

Adeleke revealed that he formally registered with the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said Osun stakeholders were already familiar with the motivations behind his political move.

Adeleke explained that his decision was influenced by the party’s ideology and its alignment with his administration’s people-focused governance.

“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare,” he said.

Welcoming Accord Party leaders to the Government House, the governor called for unity and collective effort as the state gears up for the 2026 governorship election.

“We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” Adeleke stated.

He urged party members to strengthen internal cohesion and embrace inclusive leadership that reflects the interests of all segments of the state.

Reflecting on his experience since joining the Accord Party, Adeleke praised the party’s philosophy, noting that it reinforces his administration’s values.

“The focus on people’s welfare should always be at the heart of public leadership. The primary essence of government is the welfare and well-being of the people,” he said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to policies and programmes designed to elevate the living standards of Osun residents, emphasizing that citizen welfare remains the core of his governance.

Adeleke also presented the Accord Party as the new political vehicle for Osun State, calling on residents from Osun West, East, and Central to support the platform.

“From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede and beyond, this is our party, our new platform for victory come August next year,” he declared.

Concluding his remarks, Adeleke formally announced his political realignment:

“In accordance with the will of our stakeholders and in deep respect for the wishes of Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party.”
