NewsOnline Nigeria reports that joy overflowed at the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) 73rd Annual Convention as 50 babies, 34 boys and 16 girls were born at the church’s maternity centre since the event began.
The announcement was made by the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, during the third day of the week-long spiritual gathering, sparking jubilation among the congregation at Redemption City.
The celebration of new life came alongside a stirring sermon from Pastor Adeboye, titled “Overcome Yourself.” Drawing from Proverbs 16:32, he emphasized the importance of self-discipline, calling on believers to confront their inner weaknesses in order to live victoriously.
“Train your ears, master your vision, control your tongue, guide your hands, and choose where you go,” he urged, adding that spiritual battles are often lost not because of external enemies but internal flaws.
Using the biblical examples of Moses and Solomon, Pastor Adeboye warned that unchecked weaknesses could rob people of their destinies:
“Moses missed the Promised Land due to anger. Solomon, though wise, ended his life in regret. If you want to be a champion forever, deal with your weak point.”
He also cautioned Christians to resist negative influences from the media and the world, saying:
“Stop feeding on bad news. The Gospel is the real Good News.”
The convention, themed “Overcomers,” has drawn tens of thousands of worshippers from across Nigeria and abroad, with daily sessions marked by worship, teachings, healing, and testimonies.
