Newsonline reports that the leader of pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has prayed for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu, who visited the Yoruba leader, is expected to present his action plan to Fasoranti and other leaders of the group.
He was received at the airport by the state deputy governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, the state chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin and other leaders of the party in and outside the state.
During the courtesy call on Sunday, Tinubu told his host that he had visited him several times in the past.
He admitted that there were disagreements among members of the group, but said given that democracy is a game of numbers, it was necessary to be “strategic” and “tactical” to be able to win the presidential election next year.
He said he needed the votes of the South-west and a sizable part of the north to emerge victorious as it was in 2015 and 2019.
He thanked Mr Fasoranti for providing formidable leadership in the South-west.
“Our leaders have been through this path, you Let us through it, we will follow you through it,” he added.
Recall that the apex Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, declared support of the group for the LP presidential candidate in an online radio programme, ‘Yoruba Gbode’, where he said, “Peter Obi can rule independently without the influence of those criminals in the government, stressing, “Tinubu will only give continuity to Buhari’s incompetence.”
The leader of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, said the Presidency is not the personal property of the Yorubas.
