NewsOnline reports that legendary singer Tina Turner, known for her sultry voice and a string of platinum hits, Tina Turner is dead.

 

Tina Turner died peacefully today at 83 Years, said her spokesperson.

 

This online newspaper understands that the US-born star was one of rock’s great vocalists and most charismatic performers.

 

Her spokesperson, who confirmed this in a statement, said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

 

“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Tina Turner was one of the best-loved female rock singers, known for her on-stage presence and a string of hits including The Best, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What’s Love Got to Do With It.

 

Her classic song River Deep, Mountain High, and another repertoire with her ex-husband Ike Turner brought her to the limelight in the 1960s.

 

Ike subjected her to domestic abuse and this was documented in a 1993 Hollywood biopic starring Angela Bassett, which won three Oscars.

 

Tina Turner life story was also immortalised in a popular West End show that is still running.
