President Tinubu has congratulated the authentic Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

 

This Nigeria news platform understands that Azuta-Mbata, a former senator, represented Rivers East in the Senate from 1999 to 2007.

He was elected as president of the preeminent Pan-Igbo socio-cultural group at its meeting in Enugu on Friday.

 

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu also congratulated the group on the successful leadership transition and enjoins the new leaders to uphold the principles of their predecessors.

 

The President recognised the critical role of socio-cultural organisations in nation-building; hence, he was committed to promoting dialogue among our ethnic nationalities.

 

President Tinubu wished the newly elected Ohanaeze Ndigbo president success as he took on this onerous yet noble and lofty task.

 

Recall that the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo was thrown into confusion as two individuals emerged President-General of the prominent Igbo socio-cultural organisation.

 

On one hand, Senator John Azuta-Mbata was elected as the 13th President-General during an election in Enugu on Friday.

 

In another development, a renowned activist and lawyer, Dim Uche Nnam Okwukwu, was also declared President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide during the organisation’s convention in Port Harcourt.

 

According to Daily Post, the returning officer, Achi Achi, disclosed that Okwukwu was elected unopposed after a process led by the progressive movement in Igboland, which took place from Thursday to Friday.
