Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Convener Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has has said that the body campigned for President Buhari in 2015 because he was better option, but now Peter Obi has the passion and energy for Nigeria.

Newsonline reports that Baba Ahmed said his conviction on Peter Obi arose from his passion, energy and competence to serve the country in the capacity of president.

NEF Convener, Ahmed said this as reaction to his early statement on the visit oof Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate to his residence, which he described as ‘spent a valuable time with Peter Obi’.

Following the Northern Elders Forum convener description of Peter Obi as one that has the competence to solve the country’s problems, critics refered to how NEF had emndorsed Buhari in 2015.

Ahmed said he stands by his statement that revolution could come through Peter Obi in the 2023 general election.

The NEF Convener speaking on the challenges of Peter Obi advised Ndigbo and his  supporters to invest more efforts in selling him as a good Nigerian which he is.

“He also has massive problems with his primary constituency, which must unite behind him and show other Nigerians that he could be a good Nigerian (not Igbo) President.”
