Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has faulted the APC government and said Peter Obi Is the only candidate best to take over leadership of Nigeria
Newsonline reports that Nigerian actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a failed government where people including animals have become thieves, which is seeking to again rule the country for another four years.
The Nollywood veteran, who spoke on Channels Tv programme, Politics Today, said APC has failed Nigerians and their ‘sin’ is unpardonable.
The former APC member said, while fielding questions from Seun Okinbaloye, lamented the spread of insecurity in Nigeria under the APC administration.
Okonkwo, who is now a registered member of the Labour Party (LP), said the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi is not an option but the only candidate best to take over the leadership of Nigeria.
The actor also faulted President Muhammadu Buhari‘s government over the outrageous gap between the United States Dollar and the Nigerian currency, Naira.
He said: “APC is bad, there is no sound coming out of the APC, only noise. And you know when people make noise, they exchange ignorance through arguments.
“I was in APC and reading their manifesto, reading their constitutions which their leaders are not aware of. They don’t know the content of the constitution, because, by their manifesto, they talk about restructuring, and true federalism and then the promise they made to Nigerians was that one naira should be equal to one dollar.
“Today, a dollar is 735 naira in the parallel market, of course, the parallel market is the street market. You know what that means, it means APC has failed 735% of the time from what they promised.
“So their deviation is unpardonable. And to begin to rub it in, I did not subscribe to the fact that ASUU will be at home, students at home, my younger ones denied education.”
Speaking further, Okonkwo condemned the government for failing to reach an agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over the over seven-month-old strike.
Okonkwo said: “For seven months and there is no end in sight. That was not the reason why I entered the APC, when I entered the APC, they promised me they will tackle security after the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Give it to PDP, they failed, they acknowledged and they apologized. APC came pretending that they are going to build on what PDP did, and yes they are building a skyscraper of failure on it.
Because the insecurity that was once limited to the Northeast has master sized and has swept all over Nigeria.
“In the Southeast, you talk of the unknown gunmen, in the North Central you talk about the herdsmen, in the Northwest you talk about bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists, in the Southsouth you talk about the oil thieves, in the Northeast Boko Haram is still laying ambush, liquidating our military officers and the civilians in the Northeast.
“So they have not done anything, in the issue of corruption, one person who is supposed to be the custodian of the money of Nigeria is alleged to have stolen N100 and nine billion naira, the provable one.”
The actor added: “You can imagine in APC government, we are witnessing termites eating documents, monkeys swallowing money, snakes becoming money eaters in APC government.
“I did not vote for animals to begin to manifest as witches, stealing our money. So in the APC government, everybody has become a thief, including animals. Please, we need the redemption. The name APC gives me so much trauma.”
