PDP Ogun State chapter has expelled its former governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, and four others.

The Ogun state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced the expulsion of its former governorship aspirant, Ladi Adebutu, and four others.

NewsOnline reports that the expulsion was over their alleged involvement in the manipulation of the delegates’ list used in conducting the May 25, 2022 governorship primary election of the party and flagrant disobedience to a court order.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, November 3, 2022,

Adebutu, who has been on suspension since October 25, was finally expelled along with four others – Taiwo Akinlabi, Sunday Solarin, Kayode Adebayo and Akinloye Bankole, after the relevant Working Committee of the party, reviewed the report of a five-man disciplinary panel set up to look into the allegations of anti-party, indiscipline, division and acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

The chairman of the disciplinary committee, Hon. Akintunde Mufutau, said in a statement: “After a thorough review of the allegation levelled against them, the panel found Adebutu and others guilty. Subsequently, they have been recommended for expulsion and same has been communicated to the necessary organs of the party for ratification”.

Recall, a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta had the primary election of the party which produced Ladi Adebutu, in the state.

This was after three members of the party, Taiwo Idris, Kehinde Akala, and Ayinde Monsuri had sued the party, Adebutu, and INEC before the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, challenging the authenticity of the delegates’ lists used for the conduct of the primaries.

Upon the suit, the court nullified all the party primary and ordered a rerun within 14 days.

Since last May, when the controversial PDP governorship primary election was conducted in Ogun State, the party has known no peace.

While some aggrieved aspirants like Showunmi and Lawal dragged the party and Adebutu to court to seek redress, many others left the party in annoyance to seek their political fortunes elsewhere.
