The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has described the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Iyorchia Ayu, as very corrupt stating that he collected billions of naira from a presidential candidate.
Newsonline reports that the revelation by Wike is coming after pleas for the national chairman, Ayu to resign failed, according to promise he allegedly made.
Governor Wike stated this on Friday, in Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital, at a media chat with some selected television stations in the country.
Wike revealed that the former senate president collected N1 billion from one presidential candidate, having told the presidential candidate that the governors of the party don’t seem to be interested in financing the May 28 and 29 conventions held in Abuja.
The former PDP presidential aspirant also threatened to name the presidential candidate who gave the PDP national chairman N1 billion if he denies the allegation.
According to Wike, “Ayu is very corrupt. He cannot deny the fact that he is very corrupt.
“Ayu collected N1 billion from Lagos. He collected 1bn from a presidential candidate and if he denies it, I will name who gave him the money.
“Ayu met one of the presidential candidates and told him he doesn’t think the governors were ready to sponsor the party’s convention and he was given N1 billion.
“That money is not in the party’s coffers. I can tell you the name of the businessmen who were present when he collected the money.”
