1. President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of three Ministers, which includes the redeployment of Engr. Abubakar Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development. In a statement on Sunday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, the Federal Ministry of Youth is to be re-assigned to a Minister-Designate soon.

2. Nigeria’s average daily consumption of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, dropped to N52 million litres in July compared to 64 million litres in the previous month, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Recent data from NMDPRA, obtained by Newsonline over the weekend, showed that the country’s fuel consumption had dropped following the removal of the petrol subsidy.

3. The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, says it won’t accept Niger Republic junta’s three-year power transition plan. ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Abdel-Fatau Musa disclosed this on Sunday during an interview with the BBC.

4. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has announced that its operatives have seized a multi-billion naira illicit drugs warehouse at the International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos. This was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja.

5. As tension continues to rise in Ifitedunu community, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led government says all requisite laws would be applied towards the restoration of peace. The Governor, who spoke to DAILY POST through his Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Collins Nwabunwanne, acknowledged that many communities were in crisis, but said that the constitution of each of the communities was being utilised to ensure lasting solution.

6. The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand came to an end on Sunday. Spain defeated England 1-0 in the Women’s World Cup final to win the trophy, thanks to a first half goal from Olga Carmona at the Stadium Australia.

7. The General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro has urged the personnel of the 12 Brigade to ensure sanity and peace in the November 11 governorship poll in Kogi State by displaying the highest level of professionalism. He gave the advice while addressing the personnel of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Chari Maigumeri Barracks Lokoja, during a working visit to the State.

8. Students from the Niger Delta region of the country have appealed to State governors to ensure the transparent and effective utilization of the N5 billion palliative for the benefit of the people. While lauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the approval of the palliative fund for each State of the federation, the students under the umbrella of the Niger Delta Students Union Government, NIDSUG, urged the president to closely monitor the funds.

9. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, on Sunday demanded the immediate release of the detained Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa. Falana in a statement issued in Lagos, said the remand order for Bawa had expired hence the Department of State Services had no legal grounds to continue to detain him.

10. Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has appointed 131 women to various political positions in the State. Mr Bologi Ibrahim, the spokesman to the governor, stated that while his principal congratulated the appointees, he called on them to be dedicated and contribute their quota to the success of his administration’s policy thrusts.
