NASWADEN Taskforce has nabbed 57 illegal night scavengers in Alimosho.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a taskforce team of the National Association of Waste Dealers and Employers of Nigeria (NASWADEN), Alimosho chapter, has apprehended 57 scavengers who were found operating illegally at night, in violation of the association’s operational guideline which mandates members to operate strictly between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The crackdown, which took place during a midnight raid on Monday, September 29, 2025, follows months of consultations between NASWADEN, the police, local council executives, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders aimed at addressing rising criminality, security risks, and public safety concerns associated with illegal scavenging activities.

Chairman of NASWADEN Alimosho, Ado Sa’adu, said the move was necessary to sanitize the system and reaffirm the association’s commitment to lawful practices. He stressed that while many perpetrators were independent operators not recognized by NASWADEN, the association will not relent in purging its ranks of bad elements.
