President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on social media, Lauretta Onochie, has revealed that many All Progressive Congress, APC, members are still hurt by Tinubu’s insults during the presidential primary campaign.

Newsonline reports that Lauretta Onochie advised party members to stop keeping old wounds afresh as it will affect their victory in the 2023 general election.

Recall that the former Lagos State governmor, Bola Tinubu, had made demeaning statements against President Buhari, vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun.

In Ogun State, in June, while campaigning for votes in the build-up to the APC primary, Tinubu was quoted to have said he made Buhari president of the country.

He also said without him Dapo would not have been governor of Ogun State; Tnubu also stated that he submitted the name of Osinbajo to President Buhari for the vice-president position.

The statements by Tinubu raised political dust in the ruling party and the scars are still on the minds of those that felt insulted.

Lauretta Onochie, Social Media aide to President Buhari, said since the president has forgiven Tinubu for the angry statement, all party members should put events to the build-up of the primary behind to ensure the party’s victory come 2023.

Lauretta Onochiesaid, “When President Buhari said the aspirant who wins the presidential candidacy of APC must be magnanimous in victory, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu took him seriously and reached out to those who ran with him in the Presidential Primary race. He reached out to them.

“We too must act as adults if we are going to win everyone back. It’s not right to keep repeating those words said in anger by our leader, Asiwaju. This is because many of our people are still hurting. It’s childish on our part, to keep throwing those words around and keeping the wounds still fresh.

“Let’s move on from those days when the camp was balkanized along lines of different aspirants. We need EVERYONE OF OUR PEOPLE TO COME ON BOARD. Some are reluctant because we are still throwing those words in their faces, constantly.

“Like our leader, Asiwaju himself has done, reaching out to those he defeated, let’s be magnanimous in victory by reaching out in a matured way to everyone we know.

“That’s what I’ve been doing, anyway. The result has been amazing. Together, we will win.”

The skirmishes in the ruling APC since the conclusion of the presidential primary led to four senators, and three House of Representatives members decamping the ruling party.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu defeated Yemi Osinbajo, vice president, and Ahmad Lawan, senate president to clinch APC presidential ticket.
