Kano Governor Abba Yusuf has rejoined APC after dumping NNPP.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), days after resigning from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The governor announced his defection on Monday, barely three days after quitting the NNPP, where he cited prolonged internal crises and legal disputes that, according to him, had weakened the party’s cohesion across the country.
Yusuf was set to rejoin the APC following his resignation from the NNPP last Friday, a move that had sparked intense political speculation within Kano State.

Yusuf’s return to the ruling party comes amid a wave of defections in the state legislature. Earlier on Monday, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, his deputy, Muhammad Butu-Butu, the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain, and 19 other lawmakers formally defected from the NNPP to the APC.
The latest developments signal a major political realignment in Kano State, further strengthening the APC’s influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
