Happening Now: Guests Arrive For Tinubu’s Inauguration As Nigeria’s 16th President

At 8.50 am, men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria started marching around the square with military melodies blaring out.

Guests have started arriving for Tinubu’s Inauguration as Nigeria’s 16th President.

 

NewsOnline reports that guests including businessman and BUA chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, outgoing Ministers in President Muhammadu Buhari government, have arrived Eagles Square venue of the inauguration of President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Monday morning.

 

Journalists, security men and support service providers defied early morning rains to arrive the venue in the wee hours of Monday ahead of the inauguration slated for 10am.

Lawmakers like Hon. James Faleke and many invited guests including Senator Binta Masi Garba also arrived the venue while foreign dignitaries were being awaited.

 

Canadian delegation arrives in Nigeria for Tinubu’s swearing-in

 

Meanwhile, NewsOnline reports that the Canadian Minister for Housing, Diversity and Inclusion, Hussein Ahmed, has arrived in Nigeria for the inauguration of Nigeria’s new president, Bola Tinubu.

 

This was made known in a post by the Canadian high commission via its official Twitter handle, @CanadaInNigeria saying, “ Canada in Nigeria is delighted to welcome The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, to Nigeria, for the presidential inauguration ceremony of President-Elect, H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.”

 

Also in a statement shared, the commission noted that the minister would meet with representatives of civil society and youths, adding that “Canada and Nigeria share strong bilateral ties, and Canada looks forward to continue collaborating with Nigeria on shared priorities, including trade opportunities and regional security, through the leadership of the new president.

 

“While in Nigeria, Minister Hussein will meet with representatives of civil society organisations, youth, and international partners regarding Nigeria’s efforts in promoting inclusion and respect for diversity.”
