Ahmed said the show of force was important to scare off criminal elements planning to disrupt the elections and deny them freedom of movement.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army public Relations, 1 Brigade, Captain Yahaya Arama Ibrahim.

According to the statement, Ahmed disclosed that the exercise will boost the confidence of voters, allaying fears of intimidation and harassment before, during and after the elections.

He urged the security agencies to do their best to ensure they provided conducive atmosphere for a violent free election, tasking the officers and men to provide adequate protection for members of the Youth Service Corps, INEC staff and other stakeholders on election duty.

He also declared that saboteurs will not be tolerated in the upcoming elections in the state.

The commander implored members of all the security agencies to work in synergy to ensure that the overall goal is achieved during the election.
