The crisis ravaging the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be far from being resolved as the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has accused Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate of refusing all pleas by Jonathan for his support in 2015.
Newsonline reports that Wike said Atiku Abubakar without consideration told the then president, Goodluck Jonathan who was seeking re-election to relinquish in his second term bid because he would not support him.
Recall that Governor Wike and his camp which includes the governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state and Samuel Ortom of Benue state, have maintained their stand that they will not support Atiku’s ambition to be president in 2023 election if the national chairman of the PDP, Ayu Iyrochia did not resign from his position.
The Rivers state governor, Wike stated this on Tuesday when Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State commissioned the Akpabu-Itu-Umudiogha road in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers.
Wike said: “Jonathan travelled to the Dorchester Hotel in London to meet Atiku but rather, the former VP told Jonathan to relinquish his ticket to him in 2015.”
Wike added that until their demands are met, he will not support the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
He reminded Atiku that the treatment he gave former president Jonathan has come back to hunt his presidential ambition.
