The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has called on Yoruba people not to vote for Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 election.
Newsonline reports that Tinubu called on the Yoruba to give him 95% of their votes, stating they know him as their son but don’t know the presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.
Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State stated this while speaking to the crowd at the inauguration of the new governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The APC presidential candidate said, “Another election is coming by February. Will you be ready? Shine your eyes. Don’t forget your PVC.”
Tinubu added, “They’re coming; One will say he is Atiku. One will call himself Peter Obi. You don’t know them.
“The only person you know is Bola Ahmed Tinubu and you must deliver 95 percent of your votes.”
The APC presidential candidate’s ethnic statement is coming after the statement of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who in Kaduna told Northerners not to vote for Tinubu and Peter Obi, stating that North needs a president from the North who understands their problems and challenges.
Atiku at an event organized by Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) told the audience, “What the average Northerner needs is somebody who’s from the north and also understands that part of the country and has been able to build bridges across the country.”
He added, “This is what the Northerner needs, it doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate, I stand before you as a Pan-Nigerian of northern origin.”
