Mariya Ibrahim Baba, a member of the Public Affairs Directorate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, has said Muhammadu Buhari and his party should are not to blame for fuel scarcity and hardship in the country.

NewsOnline reports that Mariya said Nigerians should be thankful that the APC-led Buhari government brought succour to the citizens. She said since Buhari took over government in 2015 things have changed and issues of fuel scarcity are not as they used to be.

Mariya Baba said this in an interview on Arise TV’s morning show programme on Friday.

The Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign council member said it would be unfair for Nigerians to solely blame Buhari and the APC on aged-long issues like fuel scarcity which has reduced from what it used to be.

”The issue of petroleum shortage in Nigeria is not new. We had it a lot in the past; in fact, a worse situation. Things have improved. Last year we had a Christmas celebration, and every filling station was free; we had fuel, we moved around, and there was no problem. These hitches come from time to time, and if it, unfortunately, comes at a time when your enemies will use them against you, which is unfortunate. The petrol issue is not a deliberate thing by anybody; we did not say anything; we have taken it in good faith.

”This issue of petrol is not new in Nigeria; we have had serious issues in the past. It has improved with the coming on board of President Muhammad Buhari, and he is doing his best. A human being can never be 100 percent, but at least he has scored 99 percent.

She said the positions of the opposition making fuel scarcity and hardship seem like a creation of Buhari government and APC are false.

“So our opponents are cooking stories and putting them around; they are not authentic at all. They are all false,” Mariya added.
