President Tinubu has ordered Wike and Umahi among other Ministers to submit project records for BPP review.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed all ministers to submit comprehensive records of projects executed by agencies and parastatals under their supervision to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for review and onward submission to the Presidency.

The directive was issued on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, following a presentation by BPP Director-General, Adebowale Adedokun, on the state of procurement activities across ministries and agencies.

According to FEC’s resolution, all procurement processes tied to the 2024 budget must be fully concluded by September 2025 to avoid piling up unnecessary liabilities.

The government expressed concern that several agencies were still executing contracts linked to the 2024 Appropriation Act, despite the extension of its implementation for over 20 months.

FEC further emphasized the need for ministries, departments, and agencies to align with the Nigeria First Policy, mandating the prioritization of locally made goods and services in procurement. However, such products must meet international standards and secure certification from relevant authorities.

In another directive, the council ordered that all projects funded through bilateral loans must involve the BPP in negotiations to guarantee transparency and value for money.

The government also warned that state-owned enterprises that fail to comply with the Public Procurement Act will be flagged for financial recklessness.

Furthermore, Tinubu instructed that projects under the 2025 budget must be largely processed through open competitive bidding in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which targets job creation and poverty reduction.

Ministers are expected to ensure strict compliance, with reports to be submitted to the Bureau of Public Procurement for onward transmission to the President.
