PSC has screened 30 Senior Police Officers for promotion in Abuja.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Police Service Commission (PSC) on Monday screened 30 senior police officers for promotion at its headquarters in Abuja.

The exercise, which held at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall on the 6th floor of the PSC Corporate Headquarters, featured one Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), two Commissioners of Police, 11 Deputy Commissioners, and 16 Assistant Commissioners out of 17 invited for the process.

Those screened included:

  • 1 Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG),

  • 2 Commissioners of Police (CPs),

  • 11 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), and

  • 16 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) out of 17 invited for the session

PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani confirmed the development, noting that the promotion examination has become a permanent feature in the career progression of officers.

Chairman of the commission, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, emphasized that the system is designed to restore dignity to the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that officers who fail the exam three times will be retired for incompetence.

Argungu explained that the era of policing now requires skill, competence, and adaptability, insisting that officers must align with global standards. He also assured that the commission is paying close attention to due diligence to avoid errors such as promoting deceased or retired officers.
