NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Government has described as fake a list of ambassadorial nominees circulating on social media.
This Nigeria news platform understands that the acting spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
The Ministry was reacting to reports that the Nigerian government has released a list of ambassadorial nominees.
The statement clarified that it is the prerogative of President Bola Tinubu to appoint ambassadors, which he has not done.
The Ministry added that the general public should disregard claims on appointments of ambassadorial nominees.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public to kindly disregard the fake list of ambassadorial nominees, which is currently in circulation on some social media platforms.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that the appointment of ambassadors is the prerogative of Mr. President, and no such appointments have been made in that regard.
“The purported list should, therefore, be discountenanced,” the statement read
