NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has announced the immediate removal of 21 heads of parastatals and agencies within the FCT Administration (FCTA).
This significant development, aimed at restructuring the FCT landscape, was confirmed by the Director of Press in the Office of the Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, in a statement released on Wednesday night in Abuja.
In a press release, Minister Wike stated, “The heads of the following parastatals, agencies, and government companies of the FCTA are relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.”
The list of affected officials is extensive and encompasses key positions responsible for various aspects of the Federal Capital Territory’s administration.

This move comes as part of Minister Wike’s broader efforts to reform and rejuvenate the FCT since taking office on August 24, 2023. It follows his earlier decisions, including the revocation of 165 plots of land belonging to prominent Nigerians in highbrow areas of the capital city and the three-month grace period granted to owners of 189 undeveloped plots of land in the FCT.
Wike’s directive also includes the instruction for the ousted officials to hand over the affairs of their offices to the most senior officers in rank.
While the specific reasons behind these terminations have not been disclosed, the Minister has assured that new appointments to these crucial positions will be made in due course.
The unexpected and sweeping changes in the FCT administration have generated significant interest and speculation among both political observers and the general public.
The coming weeks will undoubtedly shed more light on Minister Wike’s vision for the Federal Capital Territory as new leadership is installed in these key agencies and parastatals.
