The presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore have reacted to US court documents which made their way to Twitter on Tuesday, showing that Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate was convicted for trafficking heroine.

Newsonline reports that the US court document docketed on July 26, 1993, and certified by Thomas O. Burton, the clerk of the court, indicted Tinubu for heroin trafficking in the state of Illinois through a proxy organization owned by Adegboyega Mueez Akande and subsequently forfeited the proceeds of the crime to the U.S. government.

The funds, which were held by First Heritage Bank and Citibank in trust for Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), were forfeited to the U.S. government for being proceeds of drug-related offenses.

Since Tuesday, when the documents made their way to the social media platforms, Nigerians, youths, women, political and economic experts have been tweeting about the dangers of voting the former governor of Lagos state into power in 2023 election.

Reacting to the certified US court document which indicted Tinubu of heroin trafficking, conviction and how he forfeited millions of dollars to the US government to avoid being jailed, the Media Adviser, to PDP presidential candidate, Pau Ibe, wrote in a series of tweets with the court documents t back his claim: “It is no longer news that on October 4, 1993, Bola Ahmed Tinubu forfeited $460,000 to the United States Government for his involvement in narcotics trafficking and financial transactions on violation of the U.S laws. This 59-page attested court judgment confirms this,” he wrote in his first thread.

In the fifteen thread, Atiku media aide added, “The U.S Court ordered that the funds in the amount of $460,000 in the name of Bola Tinubu in account 263226700 held by First Heritage Bank represent proceeds of narcotics trafficking and is hereby forfeited to the United States Government.”

Also reacting, the AAC presidential candidate, Sowore, said that Tinubu’s drug dealing is no surprise, he, however, added that Atiku Abubakar has questions to answer.

“You just don’t need any “certified” court documents to tell you Bola Tinubu is a drug lord and money launderer, some of those sharing these documents today knew Bola Tinubu has always been a crook and druggie but hypocrisy won’t let them accept it then, the same way some won’t accept Atiku is a thief.”

Sowore added that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may also have some questions to answer.

“Peter Obi isn’t any different from Atiku and Bola Tinubu. They’re all alumni of the same crime family,” Sowore added.

The APC presidential campaign spokesmen, Bayo Onanuga and Festus Keyamo are yet to react to the US court documents indicting Tinubu of heroin conviction and how he forfeited millions of dollars to avoid being jailed.
