Army has urged NSCDC to always share intelligence to combat criminals.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, said there is a need to always share intelligence among heads of security agencies with a view to dislodging bandits and various forms of criminal activities.

In a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi, Ag Deputy Director, Public Relations, he said Major General Jamal Abdussalam stated this when the Rivers State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Basil Igwebueze, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

According to the statement, while thanking the Commandant for the visit, he described the relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC as historic, adding that the corps has grown to be a reliable ally.

He commended the level of professionalism exhibited by the corps, especially among the officers cadre and urged the Commandant to talk to the men to step up same. The GOC pledged the commitment of the Division towards assisting the Corps when the need arises; as was the case not too long ago when personnel of the Corps came under attack in Emuoha Local Government Area Council. He recalled the quick intervention of soldiers on duty not too far away who confronted the criminals.

He equally enjoined the Commandant to feel free to utilize the mess and other recreational facilities within the cantonment in order to cement further the good relationship between the two services.

Earlier, Igwebueze, who led his management team on the courtesy visit to the GOC, called for the escalation of existing synergy between the State Command of the NSCDC and 6 Division Nigerian Army.
