2023: Voters Registration In South-East Dogged By Bottleneck – Peter Obi

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has raised alarm on bottleneck hindering voters registration in South-East.

 

Newsonline reports that the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, stated that voters who have turned out across the country and particularly South-East are being hindered by avoidable bottleneck by staff of INEC.

 

Staff of Independent National Electoral Commission, the commission in charge of registration and conducting of elections in the country is being accused by Nigerians of not making registration for voters card easy.

Citizens who have been raising concerns of social media have stated their worry with “unnecessary bureaucratic bottlenecks” by the commission staff at different registration centers.

 

Lamenting on the bureaucratic bottlenecks hindering effective and easy registration of citizens, the Labour Party, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, called on INEC to speed up the registration process to avoid disenfranchising Nigerians who are out to perform their civic duties.

 

“Information reaching me indicate that voter registration across Nigeria, more so in the South East, is dogged by inertia & bureaucratic bottlenecks. I respectfully call on @inecnigeria
to facilitate speedy registration of Nigerians to enable them exercise their voting rights;” Peter Obi said.

 

Newsonline had reported that the former governor of Anambra State has been trending on social media platforms, as many celebrities and youths have pitched tenth with him in the run up the 2023 general election.

 

Peter Obi emerged the consensus presidential candidate of Labour Party, after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party over ideological differences.
