2023 Election: Linking Peter Obi To IPOB Is Mischievous - Abaribe

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has slammed the Kwankwaso and critics who are linking the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Newsonline reports that the former Minority Leader of the Senate, asked why Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and Atiku, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, have not been linked to the Oduduwa Republic agitators and Fulani bandits respectively.

Abaribe said it was unfortunate that Peter Obi’s popularity and general acceptance by majority of Nigerians especially youths are attacked by the activities of IPOB.

The Abia State senator who stated this during a virtual town hall meeting organized by Ikengaonline said what was more mischievous was the linking of the presidential ambition of Peter Obi to Igbo presidency.

He wondered whether the former governor of Anambra State has no constitutional right as guaranteed by the constitution of the country to seek elective posts, including the presidency.

Abaribe said: ”It’s unfortunate that Peter Obi’s emergence which is now a silver lining has come with complications. Tinubu has a presidential ticket, nobody is saying it’s a Yoruba ticket.

”Atiku has a ticket, nobody is saying it’s a Fulani ticket. But Peter Obi got a ticket and everybody is shouting: ’It’s Igbo presidency. Some even try to link him with the Biafra agitation.

”Have they tried to associate Tinubu with the Oduduwa self-determination agitation? Or Atiku within the Fulani herdsmen menace or the banditry in the North?”
