The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is scheduled to meet with governors, including the Kano State governor Umar Ganduje, Samuel Ortom of Benue state and heads of security agencies ahead of the 2023 election.
Newsonline reports that INEC also will meet with presidential candidates of all participating political parties in line with ensuring a hitch-free 2023 general election.
The meeting which will be on Tuesday will be held at Nicon Luxury, Abuja. INEC Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye; Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje; his counterpart in Bauchi, Bala Mohammed; Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom; and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, and other governors will be in attendance.
Others include the presidential candidate of Action Alliance, Hamza Al-Mustapha; Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Yabagi Sani; Nigerian Union of Journalists, and other stakeholders in the electoral process.
In a statement on Wednesday by the organizer of the programme, Edwin Olofu, the statement said Al-Mustapha will deliver keynote address on the theme ‘contemporary security and its effects on 2023 election’.
Olofu, the Managing Director of Platinum Post, further said the participants at the roundtable would debate how the country could achieve a credible and violent-free election next year.
