Marwa Hassan, a 10-year-old Egpyt girl, who hawks toilet tissue on the streets, has caught the attention of the world after emerging winner of a marathon race she begged to run without shoes or marathon cloth.
Newsonline reports that Marwa Hassan who sells toilet tissues in the city of Aswan in Egypt rushed to watch a marathon organized for children from a distance and she quickly ran towards them to ask if she can participate.
Although she did not pay the participation fee which was 200 Egypt pounds ($10.46), nor did she have the sports shoes or clothing to participate, the organizers allowed Marwa ran barefoot.
Marwa To everyone’s utter astonishment and surprise, she came in first place and won the gold medal.

Marwa after the marathon said, “I took off my flip-flops and started running. I was so tired as I did not have my breakfast, but I had a great desire to win.”
For Marwa’s achievement, the Egyptian Olympic committee granted her running shoes and the national team jersey.
The Egypt military sports association also announced that they will sponsor Marwa and register her at the Egyptian Athletic Federation.
