The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has told the state residents to vote for all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates contesting for different positions in the state, except the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
NewsOnline reports that Governor Wike told Rivers residents that he will disclose their presidential candidate later.
Wike stated this on Tuesday, at the commissioning of Rukpoku-Rumuapu-Izo-Ogbodo-Ogwuruta roads in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.
The Rivers State governor along with the governors of Enugu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Oyo, Seyi Makinde; Benue, Samuel Ortom; and Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu has refused to work for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The five governors, known as men of integrity, are demanding the resignation of the national chairman of the PDP, Ayu Iyorchia, as a condition to work along with Atiku.
Wike had said Ayu had agreed before the May 28 and 29 convention that he would resign from his position for a Southerner if a Northerner emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
Speaking at the commissioning of the roads, Wike said, “You will vote for the party that has worked for you.
“You know those you will vote for – vote for our Gubernatorial candidate, vote for our House of Representatives, vote for our senatorial candidate, vote for our House of assembly candidates.
“Those we have mentioned now, make sure you vote for them. For the other one (Atiku and presidential election), we will meet at our houses very soon and decide where we are going.”
