1. President-elect, Bola Tinubu yesterday said he is ready for the responsibilities attached to being Nigeria’s number one citizen. Tinubu said this shortly after returning to the country after about a month in Paris, France.

2. The Federal Government, on Monday, confirmed that some Nigerian students fleeing the conflict in Sudan were denied entry into Ethiopia, but stated that the situation was being handled. The FG said Nigerian authorities in Ethiopia were addressing the issue, as they had sought clearance for the fleeing students, stressing that it was, however, risky for the students to have embarked on such a journey.

3. Leadership of the Labour Party (LP) said it has not entered into any deal with Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State. LP’s National Vice Chairman (South East), Chief Innocent Okekem, made the clarification, yesterday, against the backdrop of a recent viral video indicating that Uzodimma may have influenced the emergence of Senator Athan Achonu as governorship candidate of the party in the oncoming election to his own favour.

4. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the February 25 election and former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi said on Monday in Awka that he had no reason to take a rest after the 2023 presidential campaigns and the election that followed, arguing that those who had to rest had their reason for doing so.

5. Governor Hope Uzodimma has received four House of Representative members who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with over 3,000 of their followers into the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri. This is coming ahead of the November 11 governorship election in the state.

6. The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken said yesterday Sudan’s warring generals had agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire starting Tuesday, 10 days after they killed hundreds, wounded thousands and sparked a mass exodus of foreigners

7. Two people accused of allegedly being behind a thunder strike at Ikyve in the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday have been reportedly buried alive by irate youths. The state Police Public Relations Office, SP Sewuese Anene, confirmed the incident yesterday.

8. The Enugu State Police Command on Monday said a 24-year-old man identified as Agbo Onuabuchi has been remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre for killing and burying a 44-year-old friend, Peter Ukekwe, in a shallow grave. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this at a press conference in Enugu.

9. Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has apologised to Taraba people whom he might have stepped on their toes during his eight-year administration. Ishaku tendered his apology during a thanksgiving service organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State chapter, held at the CAN Secretariat in Jalingo.

10. The traditional ruler of Aghara, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Chief David Obadofin, has reportedly died in the custody of his abductors, 12 days after he was kidnapped. A family source stated yesterday that the monarch died last Thursday as a result of torture from his abductors.
