Russia War: Kremlin Likely Preparing To Mobilize Economy To Sustain War - ISW

Institute for the Study of War, a policy research organization focused on U.S. national security, has revealed that Kremlin is likely to mobilize Russia’s economy to sustain the war against Ukraine it started in the early hours of February 24.

Newsonline reports that the Washington-based war policy research organization disclosed that Putin may not back down on the invasion of Ukraine, but mobilize the Russian economy to continue the condemned invasion by United Nations.

Institute for the Study of War said Kremlin proposed an amendment to introduce “special measures” requiring Russian businesses to “supply Russian special military and counterterrorism operations.”

The ISW also reported that Russia is likely trying to directly merge the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant into the Russian energy system, in contrast to previous Russian claims that the nuclear plant would sell electricity to Ukraine.

United States defense headquarter, Pentagon also confirmed the increasing vulnerability of Russian invaders to Ukrainian strikes.

Pentagon said the sustenance of Ukraine’s strike was one of the reasons for the Russian retreat from Snake Island.

The US Defense Department stated on July 1 that there is no credence to Russia claiming its withdrawal from Snake Island was a “gesture of goodwill.”

According to a senior US defense official, Russian forces left the island because “Ukrainians made it very hard for the Russians to sustain their operations there (and) made them very vulnerable to Ukrainian strikes.”

The US Defense Department also announced $820 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine.

The additional security assistance it said includes additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and two National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS).

As well as up to 150,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition, and four additional counter-artillery radars.
