President Tinubu has asked the Reps to confirm NDDC Chairman and the Governing Board.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives to ratify the Niger Delta Development Commission’s chairman and its governing board.

 

This Nigeria news platform understands that the president said the ratification was in compliance with section 2(2) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment etc.) Act.

NewsOnline Nigeria recalls that on August 29, the President endorsed Mr. Chiedu Ebie for the position of NDDC board chairman alongside 16 other people for the commission’s board.

 

The Deputy Spokesman of the House Philip Agbese, had while speaking to select journalists in Abuja last Sunday, argued that the appointees could only be inaugurated after the confirmation of the Senate and House of Reps according to section 2A of the NDDC Act.

 

Tuesday, October 10’s plenary session saw the Deputy Speaker, Ben Kalu, reading a letter that was dated August 30 and sent to the speaker, Tajudeen Abbas.

The letter read, “In compliance with the provisions of section 2(2) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment etc.) Act, I am pleased to present the under-listed seventeen nominees for the consideration of the House of Representatives for the positions of Chairman and members of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.”

 

The names for confirmation are as follows; “Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman, Delta State, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bayelsa, Mr. Boma lyaye, the Executive Director, Finance and Admin, Rivers, Mr.Victor Antai Executive Director Projects, Akwa-Ibom, and Otito Atikase Executive Director, Corporate Services, Ondo

Others on the list include “Dimaro Denyanbofa, State Representative Bayelsa, Mr. Abasi Nkono, State Representative Akwa-Ibom, Monday Igbuya, State Representative Delta, Tony Okocha, State Representative Rivers, and Patrick Aisowieren, State Representative Edo.

 

Others are “Mr.Kyrian Uchegbu, State Representative Imo, Victor Akinjo, State Representative Ondo, Dimgba Eruba, State Representative Abia, Orok Otu Duke, State Representative Cross River, Nick Wende, Zonal Representative North Central, Namdas Abdulrazak, Zonal Representative North East, and Dr.Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir, Zonal Representative North West.

 

The President urged the House for an expeditious consideration of the nominees.
