Peter Obi Makes Passionate Appeal Nollywood Actors

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has made a passionate appeal to Nollywood actors for his inability to attend the Nollywood Actors Summit he was invited to on Monday.

Newsonline reports that the former governor of Anambra State appealed to Nollywood that his absence from the summit was not out of neglect but scheduling difficulties.

The Labour Party presidential candidate said Nollywood remains a global brand that cannot be taken for granted if he is elected president in 2023.

In a statement on Tuesday, Obi said the importance of Nollywood and its allied value chains are of strategic importance to the growth of the nation’s economy.

Peter Obi assured Nollywood Obidients who have taken up his campaign for the betterment of the country that when elected he will give all support the entertainment industry needs.

The statement read, “Nollywood Actors Summit is on my mind. Congratulations on the success of your summit on the 21st of November, 2022. I regret my inevitable absence yesterday at this noble summit due scheduling difficulties. Nollywood, an indigenous but global brand, is dear to my heart and remains so.

“Nollywood and its allied value chain are of strategic importance to the growth of the Nigerian economy. Hence, I committed and will continue to advocate for robust engagement between the FGN, the organized private sector and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry in supporting the consolidation and expansion of Nollywood.

“From my vantage position, I am able to discern within the Obidient Movement, distinguished Nollywood greats, both males and females, and this serves as a reminder to me that Nollywood is fully engaged in supporting our movement for the rebirth of Nigeria.”
