The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa have said that they are confident of their victory in South-East, stating that misguided youths are behind the Monday sit-at-home order in the region.
Newsonline reports that the presidential and vice-presidential candidates said when elected all political solutions will be deployed to solve the current security issue in the state to return the economy of the region to ite glorious days.
These were there contributions on Tuesday while addressing the South-East PDP stakeholders meeting held in Enugu, Enugu State.
Okowa, the vice-presidential candidate and the governor of Delta State said he was sure of the victory of PDP in South-East, North Central and South-South.
The Delta State governor added that with the victory of the party in Osun July 16 governorship election and Oyo State being a PDP state they already have a better chance in the South-West.
Okowa added that Lagos, Ekiti and Ondo states were already would be places of victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Okowa said, “In the North-Central and the South-South, we have become strong; and PDP is in charge in the Southeast.
“We saw what happened in Osun. We are in charge of Oyo and Ondo States.
“A lot is happening in Ogun and Ekiti and even in Lagos State, PDP is going to compete favourably.”
On his part, the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, said IPOB cannot liberate the people of South-East by destroying the economy of the region through their Monday sit-at-home order.
“I am aware of how the economy of this zone and the livelihoods of its people are being destroyed by the Monday sit-at-home being imposed by a small misguided youth from this zone.
“It is difficult to understand how you liberate a people by destroying their economy. This has to stop and we shall address all political grievances not just by words but by deeds,” he said.
The former vice president added that if elected the marginalization of the South-East will be thing of the past.
He said his agenda “will benefit the South-East. A Nigeria that truly works will work for all its zones.
“We must tackle the feeling of marginalization which is providing an excuse for the separatist agitations in this zone. National unity will benefit the people of this zone who need a wider platform to operate on.”
