You violated the sanctity of not only life but also religion, Sultan slams the alleged criminal herdsmen that attacked worshipers in Ondo State.

 

Newsonline reports that the Sultan of Sokoto has described the attack of worshipers in church in  Owo, Ondo state, yesterday, (Sunday), was a violation of the sanctity of not only life but also religion against the teaching of Allah.

 

Reacting to the massacre by alleged Fulani herdsmen, Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, said the attack was against humanity, religion, and a grievous sin.

 

Newsonline had reported that alleged armed Fulani herdsmen, according to eye witnesses, on Sunday, stormed St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo-State and killed over 50 worshipers, while several others sustained gunshot injuries. Read more.

 

One of the priests who narrated the unfortunate incident, Rev. Fr. Abayomi, said the worshipers and the celebrating priests locked the entrance of the church and his for 20 minutes, when the gunmen invaded the mass celebration. Read more.

In a statement signed by the Director of Administration, Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, called on governments at the state and federal levels to pursue and issue an ultimatum for the security agencies to unravel the identity of the perpetrators.

 

Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, said, “All peoples of faith should take this attack as a direct attack on all law-abiding citizens and should therefore be in the vanguard to halt the evil that appears to be assailing the life, property and integrity of humanity, particularly believers in God.

 

calling the security agents to help in rescuing the helpless citizens, the apex Muslin leader in Nigeria said, “…For had it not been that God checks one set of people by means of another; monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, wherein the name of God is persistently mentioned would surely have been pulled down. Verily, God will help those who help His (Cause). Truly, God is All-Strong, All-Mighty. (Q 22: 40).”
