The All Progressives Congress (APC) Osun State Chapter has written to the federal government to call the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke to order, over alleged attacks on the party members.
Newsonline reports that APC in the letter written through the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman alleged that barely 24 hours that Adeleke to over from former governor Gboyega Oyetole of the APC, party members have become targets of the new Osun state government.
This was contained in a statement released on Monday by the APC Acting Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, Osun State chapter.
The statement read in part, “Barely 24 hours after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took over power in Osun State, anarchy appears to have taken the centre stage.
“This is why the Osun State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Akali Baba Usman to urgently intervene in the ugly security situation in the state.”
Tajudeen added, “We knew since yesterday that the beasts of yesteryears have returned to power, but we never imagined the extent of the havoc they are currently wrecking in Osun in less than 24 hours after the inauguration. Today Monday can be best described as a black day for our dear state.
“We are seriously disturbed and concerned about public peace and order, particularly the safety of our teeming members and supporters in Osun which has been under serious security threats since yesterday after the inauguration of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor of Osun State.”
He said “As at the last count this morning (yesterday) more than 500 APC members have been attacked while a vehicle with APC campaign inscription was burnt in the Ayetoro area of Osogbo.
“Some of our party members have sustained various degrees of injuries and gun wounds at Old Garage, Ogo – Oluwa in Osogbo, and the ongoing senseless attack has already spilled to Ile Ife, Ilesa, Iwo, Ede, Ila, and Ikirun.”
Governor Ademola Adeleke who took over as the 6th governor of Osun from the Oyetola on last weekend sacked all employment made by the former governor from the 17th of July.
Adeleke also on Monday sacked all acting local government acting council chairmen and replaced them with most senior civil servants in all the council areas.
All accounts of the state government were also frozen by the order of Senator Adeleke.
