NewsOnline reports that the Supreme Court on Friday upheld Chief Edozie Njoku’s status as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
This online newspaper understands that the Supreme Court decision was made in response to Njoku’s request for regularisation of the amended judgment issued on May 9, 2022, by Justice Mary Peter Odili.
The Supreme Court had written to Njoku on January 19, 2023, addressing him as the national chairman of APGA and advising him to file a motion to correct the error. This letter was the inspiration for Njoku’s motion.
Njoku has been reinstated as the legitimate national chairman of the party after the Supreme Court rectified an unintentional error that had led to his removal by a Jigawa High Court.
In a lead judgment, Justice Garba Lawal ruled that Edozie Njoku was wrongfully removed from Jigawa without being a party member.
Following that, the presiding judge stated that Njoku’s application was meritorious and thus granted it as requested.
In response to the ruling, Njoku asked Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state to meet with him to discuss the party’s next steps.
Also, he pledged to do everything possible to bring stability to the party.
