Insecurity: Bandits Kill, Burn Down Two Communities In Kogi

Two communities in Kogi State have been razed to dust after an attack by bandits in early hours as lives and properties got lost.

 

Newsonline reports that the bandits attacked two Egbura communities in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Thursday, killing two men and a woman.

 

The two communities, Baze and Anki, have been deserted by the villagers to ran for safety following the attack.

 

Houses and properties of the two villages were burnt to ashes by the bandits suspected to be Bassa Kwomu Militias, according to the villagers.

The Secretary, Mozum Traditional Council, Ahmedu Abubakar, who confirmed the attack on the two communities of Baze and Anki, on Thursday, said the bandits first attacked Mozum, the headquarter of Egbura Mozum Kingdom, before proceeding to the two other villages, where they killed two men, a female and burnt the villages to ashes.

 

“They came and attacked Mozum, the headquarter of Egbura Mozum kingdom. They burnt down eight houses. This Bassa Kwomu Militias extended the attack to two Egbura communities namely Baze and Anki. They burnt down the whole villages and killed two men and a woman. As I speak to you, the villages are empty. The Divisional Police Officer in Bassa and soldiers detachment in Oguma have all come here to see things for themselves. No arrest has been made,” Abubakar narrated.

 

Newsonline reports that the Kogi State government has not released an official statement on the attack at the time of filling this report.
