As backlash continues to pour on Senator Ike Ekweremadu over the arrest of his wife and him by United Kingdom Metropolitan police, on an alleged case of human trafficking and organ harvesting, Senator Sani has reminded Nigerians that they are all involved in the case.

Newsonline reports that Senator Shehu Sani stated that the Ike Ekweremadu and his wife’s human trafficking case will also affect all Nigerians not only the former deputy senate president.

Senator Shehu Sani stated this in response to the continuous backlash that is heaped on Ekweremadu, a two times deputy senate president of Nigeria and former speaker of ECOWAS parliament.

While calling for caution in the criticism of Ekweremadu in the organ and human trafficking case, Sani said it was important for the court of public opinion to allow the UK legal process to determine the guilty or otherwise of the Enugu State senator.

Senator Sani said, Ekweremadu and his wife, Nwanneka, no doubt have a case to answer to prove their innocence, Nigerians should know that the integrity of all Nigerians are also at stake.

The former Kaduna senator, Sani, on his twitter handle, said, “the court of public opinion should be patient and follow the UK legal proceedings.

“No doubt that is his case, but by virtue of the position he occupied , in a matter like this, the name and reputation of all Nigerians are involved.”

Newsonline had reported that Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Enugu West Senatorial District and his wife Nwanneka were arrested on Thursday over allegation of human trafficking and organ harvesting.

The UK metropolitan police confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stating that the couple was charged with conspiring to bring a child to the UK in order to harvest organs.

Ike Ekweremadu has been in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, The Senate, since 2003, after serving as the first local government chairman of Aninri council area.

Ekweremadu, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, was also a two times deputy president of the senate.
