Igbo APC Chieftains Pushing Tinubu Not To Resign, Despite North’s Call

All Progressives Congress (APC) from the South East are alleged to be the force pushing their presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, not to resign from the 2023 election contest.

 

Newsonline reports that a source within the APC caucus said Tinubu’s health and scandals surrounding his candidacy have become a big challenge with the chieftains can no longer ignore.

 

According to the source, over 80% of Northern APC chieftain are against the candidacy of Tinubu because f his diminshing health and other scandals.

 

The source, however, said party chieftains from South East, Igbo, are against to withrawal of Tinubu from the presidential race.

While the source said the reason for the insistence on Tinubu’s candidacy by the Igbo party chieftains cannot be said, other chieftains from the not maintained he has to resign.

 

Disclosing this, a lawyer, Baron Chymaker, said “One of their Chieftain told me that almost 80% of Northern Chieftains want BAT (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) to resign but his base is mostly the South and in particular Chieftains from the South East.”

 

The Lawyer had earlier disclosed that Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, was already making move to get party chieftains to disqualify the former Lagos governor.

 

Recall that on Saturday, a video of Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, made its way to social media. In the video, El-Rufai, speaking in Hausa language was visibly angry with Tinubu for his insistence that he would remain in the 2023 race.

 

El-Rufai said, “When you get to a certain age, you should thank God and leave others to continue.
“Since they said it must be Tinubu, we are watching. His energy is failing from what I saw of him when we were together the day before yesterday (Friday).”

 

Ahmed Bola Tinubu is contesting against three other major contenders for the highest office in Nigeria. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former vice president of the country who also has been in the race for Nigeria’s presidency since 2003.

 

Peter Obi of Labour Party, a former governor of Anambra State, who has majority of Nigerian youths as his support base. The business tycoon has also gotten the endorsement of all major socio-political organizations in Nigeria, including Ohanaeze Ndigo, Afenifere, Niger Delta Forum, and Middle Belt Forum.

 

Another major contestant is Rabiu Musa Kwankwas of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), a former governor of Kano State and former Minister of defense.
