NewsOnline reports that Stears – an African Data-driven news medium – in its report said Nigerians will not fare better if President Muhammadu Buhari hands over to Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
Malcolm added that President Buhari is chasting Nigerians with whips since he was elected in 2015, but the former governor of Lagos State will rule with scorpions, a biblical allusion.
The Human Rights Lawyer added that the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar if elected will also like Tinubu rule Nigerians with scorpions.
Omirhobo said the solution would be for Nigerians to vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi. He said the former governor of Anambra State, unlike the APC candidate and the former vice president, has the character and competence needed to save the country from bad governance.
“Nigerians, if Buhari chastised you with whips, Tinubu or Atiku will chastise you with scorpion.. To avoid this situation please let us vote for and work for Peter Obi,” Omirhobo said.
In its report, ‘Tinubu’s presidency is a Buhari presidency’, Stears argued that Tinubu’s presidency if elected will uphold the economic policies of Buhari’s administration which are detrimental to the economy of the country.
Stears, “Hate or love him, Tinubu is the leading contender for Nigeria’s next presidential seat. But while he may be popular, his presidency will be a 3rd term for Buhari.”
The report added, “Tinubu hasn’t minced words on his intentions as Nigeria’s president. When we think about it, his words indicate we will marinate in the same challenges the current government has placed the country.
“For example, his manifesto, which advocates for increased government spending based on achieving optimal growth, is one the current government has tested to destruction.
“In 2015, the government budgeted for #4.5 trillion in expenditures funded with #3.4 trillion in revenues, a #1 trillion deficit. In 2023, the Buhari government’s budget is for #20.5 trillion in expenditures funded by #9.7 trillion in revenues and a #10.8 trillion deficit.
“Simply put, spending has increased by 500% while revenues have merely gone up 100% on a charitable reading.
“Interestingly, the above trajectory is how Tinubu hopes to fund the ‘National Infrastructure Campaign’.
“In other words, initiatives like dams, highways, and national potable water will be funded by ‘printing money.’
“Tinubu’s manifesto makes it clear that he views the CBN and monetary policy in general as no more than a tool to serve his agenda and not as a constraint on government overreach. If elected, we’ll most likely see the Buhari-Emefiele dynamic play out again.”
