Civil Defence Board has denied shortlist claims and warned applicants against recruitment scams.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has debunked viral messages claiming that it has started shortlisting candidates for its ongoing 2025 recruitment exercise.
In an official statement shared via its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the board clarified that shortlisting has not commenced, and the recruitment portal remains open until Monday, August 11, 2025.

“We are yet to commence shortlisting. The portal is still collecting applications until Monday, 11th August 2025. Beware of fraudsters,” the CDCFIB stated.
This warning follows the circulation of fake messages on social media and messaging apps falsely informing applicants of their shortlisting status and demanding ₦1,250 for consultancy clearance.
One of the fraudulent messages reads:
“You have been shortlisted… Your consultancy clearance would determine your posting letter for employment at any of the four agencies.”
These scam messages direct applicants to send payment to a fictitious Federal Government Human Resource Consultant, promising employment and a posting letter after verification.
The CDCFIB firmly dissociated itself from these fraudulent claims, reaffirming that no third party has been authorized to collect fees or communicate on behalf of the board.
“Please note that the recruitment process is absolutely FREE at all stages,” the statement emphasized.
The board urged applicants to rely only on official CDCFIB communication channels, warning that previous recruitment drives have seen scammers exploit vulnerable Nigerians with similar tactics.
The ongoing 2025 recruitment drive covering the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was launched on July 14 after initial delays. Applications are accepted only via the official portal: www.cdcfib.gov.ng.
Vacancies are open across three cadres: General Duty (Superintendent), Inspectorate, and Assistant, each with specific academic, age, and physical requirements.
To qualify, applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged 18–35, medically fit, and with no criminal record. Height and chest measurements also apply to certain roles.
The portal briefly closed due to technical issues was reopened on July 21, and the deadline was extended from August 4 to August 11, 2025.
Applicants are advised to report any suspicious messages to relevant authorities and avoid falling victim to scams.
