Donald Trump

President Trump has reportedly withdrawn the U.S. from the UN Human Rights Council and prohibited future funding for UNRWA.

According to recent reports from Politico, President DonaldTrump is indeed expected to issue an executive order to withdraw the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and prohibit any future funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

This move aligns with actions taken during his first term and reflects a continuation of his administration’s policy towards these international bodies, citing concerns over bias and inefficacy.

The UNRWA, established to support Palestinian refugees, has been a point of contention due to its role and the broader political implications of its operations.

Critics argue that UNRWA perpetuates a refugee status that other refugee organizations do not maintain over generations, while supporters emphasize its critical role in providing essential services like education and health care to millions of Palestinian refugees.
