Imo Speaker has been impeached.

 

 

Newsonline reports that the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Paul Emeziem, has been impeached during a plenary on Monday.

Emeziem was impeached by 19 out of 27 lawmakers who endorsed his impeachment amid tight security.

 

The lawmakers subsequently elected Kennedy Ibe as the new speaker of the state assembly.

 

Emeziem’s impeachment, Newsonline Nigeria reports, came less than one week after his deputy was removed.
