Senate has confirmed Dr. Bernard Doro as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Senate has officially confirmed Dr. Bernard Doro as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after a screening session that lasted less than 30 minutes.

Dr. Doro, who becomes the third ministerial nominee from Plateau State in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, used the brief session to outline his plans for establishing an inclusive humanitarian ecosystem across the nation.

According to him, his vision is to build a humanitarian structure “guided by impartiality and independence,” ensuring that no community or group is left behind.

Senators, impressed by his credentials and composure, expressed confidence in his capacity to serve and promptly asked him to “take a bow and leave.”

President Bola Tinubu had earlier written to the Senate requesting the screening and confirmation of Doro as minister, in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The letter, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urged lawmakers to give the nominee expeditious consideration. Following deliberation, the Senate referred the request to the Committee of the Whole, leading to Doro’s confirmation on the floor.

Doro’s appointment follows the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda—his predecessor—as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July. Yilwatda previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
