Peter Obi has denied joining PDP amid ADC coalition controversies.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has distanced himself from reports suggesting he is set to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or has pledged allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi dismissed the circulating claims, insisting he has made no public declaration regarding either party.

“The purported statement attributed to Peter Obi, denying PDP membership and affirming loyalty to ADC, is fake and did not originate from him,” Umar said.

He cautioned political actors and media outfits to stop putting words in Obi’s mouth for their own “selfish interests,” stressing that the former Anambra State governor remains focused on his vision of building a better Nigeria.

Umar clarified that while Obi has been subject to political speculation, particularly regarding coalition talks among opposition parties, he has personally refrained from making public endorsements or declarations about any party realignment.

“The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate has been clear about his role in the ongoing coalition efforts. He doesn’t need others to speak for him or twist his stance for personal gain,” the statement read.

POMR urged the public to disregard any political statements attributed to Obi unless they are released through his official media office or verified social media platforms.

The clarification comes amid growing speculation over Obi’s political future as 2027 elections approach, with some political figures hinting at his potential return to the PDP and others claiming he is aligning with the ADC coalition.

Obi, however, appears to remain above the noise, keeping his attention firmly fixed on national transformation and the ideals of good governance.
