EFCC has published wanted person, Abdullahi Bashir Haske sins in a fresh rebutal of Atiku’s links.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims that it declared businessman Abdullahi Bashir Haske wanted for political reasons.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency clarified that Haske, who is the son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was declared wanted strictly over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

The EFCC urged members of the public with useful information about Haske’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or any of its offices nationwide.

Reacting to insinuations that the case is politically motivated, Oyewale described the claims as “baseless,” stressing that Haske had long been under investigation before absconding.

“That is rubbish,” the EFCC spokesperson told Daily Trust. “Haske is someone we have been investigating for many years. He was granted administrative bail but jumped the process, which is why we declared him wanted. How can anybody be insinuating that?”

The anti-graft agency maintained that its action was guided by law and evidence, not politics.
