BREAKING: Dave Umahi Replacement As Ebonyi Governor Announced

Dave Umahi replacement as Ebonyi Governor has been announced.

Newsonline had reported earlier that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, sacked Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Deputy, Dr. Eric Kelechi Igwe.

Reacting to the judgment, Dave Umahi declared that he was still the governor of Ebonyi State, saying the judgment of Justice Inyang Ekwo, which rendered him and his Deputy removed, on Tuesday, was purchased.

Dave Umahi said he was not surprised that the judge delivered the judgment in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, adding, “Ekwo was charged and needed to discharge.”

“There are three ways whereby a governor can vacate his office: it is either by death, resignation, and impeachment. There is no other constitutional provision that empowers a hatchet man to turn the Constitution upside down.

“I have listened to the judgment of Inyang Ekwo and it’s very obvious that he was on a mission. He was making all effort to upturn the rulings of the Appeal and Supreme Courts, on issues like this,” Umahi said about the judgment.

However, hours after the judgment, Newsonline Nigeria reports that Dave Umahi replacement has emerged.

Newsonline reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has submitted names of its nominees to replace the sacked Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

PDP National Chairman, Senator Dr Iyorchia Ayu disclosed that the party submitted the names of Hon. Iduma Igariwey as governor and Fred Udogwo as a deputy to INEC.
He started this while addressing a world press conference at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
