Babangida has debunked rejection rumour and confirmed the acceptance of Tinubu’s appointment.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Muhammed Babangida, son of former military president General Ibrahim Babangida, has debunked reports claiming he turned down his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), affirming that he has accepted the role with gratitude.

In a statement released on Monday, Babangida described the rumours as false and deliberately misleading, stating that he remains committed to serving the nation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government,” the statement noted. “He extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him.”

Babangida was named among several new appointees announced by the presidency last Friday. Others included Lydia Kalat Musa as Chairperson of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Jamilu Wada Aliyu as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council, and Sanusi Musa as Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Reacting to the widespread social media claims, Babangida’s team condemned the reports as a calculated attempt to cause political tension and tarnish the image of both the appointee and the presidency.

“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice,” the statement added.

The development comes just hours after a forged resignation letter circulated online, sparking confusion over Babangida’s stance. His latest statement now puts to rest any speculation surrounding his willingness to serve.
